New York (1 position)

1. Culture and Public Diplomacy. Application Number: PD-1.

The Position
The intern works at the intersection of US and Danish societal and cultural affairs to pursue multilateral engagements with civil society actors and facilitate cultural exchange between Danish and American artists, cultural institutions and other key stakeholders, and supporting the Consulate General’s effort to communicate and further Danish values and positions of strength in New York and across the US East Coast. The Culture and Public Diplomacy intern will assist the Consul General and the Head of Culture and Public Diplomacy in their daily work with public diplomacy and cultural exchange.

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitating and advising in regards to Danish arts and cultural collaborations across the US East Coast; 
  • Assisting with various research tasks on cultural trends and societal developments; 
  • Casework in connection with visiting programs, ministerial visits and briefing documents; 
  • Coordination and execution of meetings and events; 
  • Assisting on the Consulate’s ongoing strategy talks and work program;
  • Responding to a broad range of inquiries regarding Danish arts, culture and society;
  • Updating various lists, records and reports. 

 

As part of the internship, the intern will be given the opportunity to independently pursue at least one big project, which is both academically relevant and applicable to the culture and public diplomacy team’s overall work. 


The Candidate

For this position, students from the Humanities, social sciences and creative fields (i.e. film, literature, music, visual arts, design, culture studies, etc.) will be given priority consideration. Professional experience from the Danish cultural sector and/or international cultural exchange and communications field is an advantage.

Additional competencies include: 

  • Understanding and interest in international political relations and the role of cultural and public diplomacy; 
  • Strong analytical skills and a creative flair; 
  • Understanding of Danish society and cultural value systems
  • Good interpersonal skills, personal initiative, and a propensity for team collaboration; 
  • Strong writing skills along with fluency in English and Danish, both written and spoken.

Washington DC (1 position)

1. Press, Culture and Public Diplomacy.  Application Number: PD-2.

The Position

You will get an important role in the Embassy’s public and cultural diplomacy efforts and communication tasks with special focus on social media. You will, amongst many other things, create content for the Embassy’s social media platforms focusing on Danish values and culture, Danish export successes, Danish-American trade, and Danish green solutions. The intern will assist the Public and Cultural Diplomacy team in their daily work.

 

Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating content for the Embassy’s social media platforms (LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X), including taking photos, producing, graphics, videos, etc.
  • Participating in planning and execution of official visits, and cultural and public diplomacy events
  • Taking part in developing public diplomacy efforts and engagements
  • Taking part in promoting Denmark’s cultural profile in the US
  • Taking part in media monitoring and press requests
  • Graphic assistance and ad hoc administrative tasks


The Candidate

  • You are enrolled at a higher educational institution focusing on communication, journalism, media, or marketing
  • You are fluent in Danish and English (written and spoken)
  • You have video and web editing skills and experience with social media content
  • You have an interest in international political relations, culture, and communication
  • You are open, independent and creative
