1. Sustainable Investments at Invest in Denmark (IDK) and EIFO. Application Number: IDK-1.
The Position
The IDK team at Denmark in New York is part of Invest in Denmark, the national investment promotion agency of Denmark. Through active, focused marketing efforts in North America, Asia and Europe, the organization assists foreign companies with an interest in establishing activities in Denmark.
EIFO (The Export & Investment Fund of Denmark) provides a single point of access for Danish companies as well as for their foreign and domestic business partners who need risk-tolerant government capital. The EIFO team in New York focuses on investment opportunities in the North American market.
The Sustainable Investments intern at Denmark in New York will assist the teams at the Consulate General of Denmark in New York who are involved in Sustainable Investment tasks, i.e. specifically the IDK cleantech & tech team and, to a lesser degree, EIFO.
Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Focused market research
- Research on American companies’ core competencies
- Financial analyses of American companies
- Project management of specific events and activities
- Assistance in developing business intelligence
- Preparation of presentations, updating databases and other administrative tasks.
The Candidate
- For this position, students with a strong commercial and/or economic background will be accorded priority consideration. Professional experience is a plus.
Additional competencies include:
- Strong analytical skills
- Knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint as well as analytics
- Ability to produce a variety of written English-language communications products in a clear, concise style
- Understanding of Danish businesses, core competencies and framework conditions
- A firm understanding of business environments
- An ability to work as a team-player with great personal initiative
- Fluency in English and Danish, both written and spoken.
2. Invest in Denmark. Application Number: IDK-2.
The Position
The IDK team at Denmark In New York is part of Invest in Denmark, the national investment promotion agency of Denmark. Through active, focused marketing efforts in North America, Asia and Europe, the organization assists foreign companies with an interest in establishing activities in Denmark. The Invest in Denmark intern will assist the IDK team in its daily efforts within the fields of Tech and Life Sciences.
Your daily tasks include, but are not limited to:
- Focused market research;
- Research on American companies’ core competencies
- Assisting investment managers in the areas of Life Sciences, Cleantech and ICT
- Project management of specific events and activities
- Assistance in developing business intelligence
- Preparation of presentations, updating databases and other administrative tasks.
The Candidate

3. Investment Attraction & Energy Advisory. Application Number: IDK-3.
The Position:
We are looking for a highly motivated and curious intern to assist our teams for, respectively, investment attraction (as part of Invest in Denmark) and energy advisory in Toronto. Invest in Denmark works within Life Sciences, Tech and Cleantech, and the Toronto team has a special focus on Quantum Technologies. The Energy team works within renewable energy solutions and export promotion. You will be an integrated part of both team’s daily work, and will gain experience in advising North American companies looking to expand to Europe, as well as business development for Danish energy companies who are interested in expanding their business activities across North America. You will achieve a good understanding of the North American market (Canada and the US) with both commercial and public affairs assignments.
Your internship will consist of, but is not limited to:
Main responsibility: Support the Energy Advisory Team and the Invest in Denmark team by carrying out the following activities:
- Market analysis and research to support market assessments
- Preparation and execution of client meetings (virtual and/or in-person)
- Preparation of market background and value propositions for clients
- Development, coordination, and execution of Danish trade delegations
- Creating and executing ongoing networking events
Communication: Developing and managing general and sector-specific internal and external communications (e.g. Facebook & LinkedIn posts)
Ad hoc assistance: Assistance with ongoing activities, incoming/outgoing visits, and practical tasks
The Candidate
- Must currently be enrolled in a Danish educational program at a minimum level of bachelor's degree (i.e. Business Administration, International Business or Law)
- Interest in Danish energy solutions from a commercial angle is an asset
- Knowledge of, and interest in, international trade and investment landscape is an asset
- A good team player who’s comfortable driving independent projects and taking on responsibility
- Strong work ethic, analytical skills and commercial mindset
- Strong experience in Word, Excel & PowerPoint
