Energy Regulatory and Public Affairs Coordinator with focus on Wind Energy
Deadline for application: January 25, 2025
Would you like to be a part of Denmark in North America and a strong energy and policy team, strengthening Denmark’s energy cooperation with the US and Canada?
The Embassy of Denmark in Washington, DC, is looking for a new team member to join our North American Energy Team and the Department for Economic Diplomacy and Domestic Political Affairs. We are searching for a strong energy profile interested in regulatory affairs, public affairs, and working with Danish energy companies to help shape their relations with federal and state-level energy stakeholders. The role will be focused mainly on the wind energy sector, with the opportunity to work on B2B assignments.
About the job
Based at the Embassy in Washington, DC, you will be part of our broader North American Energy Team led out of the Consulate General in Houston. As Energy Regulatory and Public Affairs Coordinator, you will work on public affairs and regulatory issues while supporting Danish energy exports, particularly within the wind sector. You may also contribute to similar assignments within biogas and emerging technologies, such as Power-to-X, carbon capture utilization and storage, and more.
Your responsibilities will include following and monitoring US energy policy developments and collaborating with colleagues on economic diplomacy and matters of government-to-government affairs. On a day-to- day basis, you will be part of the wind energy team, with a Team Lead in New York and colleagues in Washington, DC, and Houston.
Denmark has a strong energy presence in North America and is one US’ largest foreign director investors in renewable energy. As part of Denmark in North America, you will contribute to supporting Danish companies to navigate the North American market and build a strong political network at both federal and state/provincial levels across North America.
Both wind, especially offshore wind, and Power-to-X play a major role in our daily work as Denmark in North America is already working closely with several Danish project developer public affairs issues. It will be crucial that you are able to create strong networks and relationships with national and regional stakeholders and coordinate efforts across a complicated energy matrix in North America. A key part of the work is organizing public sector energy delegations to Denmark and ensuring that the cooperation with American authorities translates into value and specific leads for the Danish companies.
You will coordinate several initiatives and be responsible for following up on leads. You will also manage the logistics of high-level visits to and from North America, develop workshops, and participate in e.g., round table discussions.
You will be hired at the Embassy in Washington, DC, and be part of the Embassy staff of around 50 employees. Your will report in your daily work to the Wind Team Lead in New York and the Head of Energy North America, based in Houston, Texas. Moreover, you will be an integrated part of our the North American Energy Team with colleagues in Houston, New York, Ottawa, Silicon Valley, Toronto, and Washington, DC.
You will coordinate closely with the G2G Energy Advisor at the Embassy and report to the Head of the Department for Economic Diplomacy and Domestic Political Affairs.
